Mani Monday: OPI Can't Find My Czechbook and Polka.com

Delayed Mani Monday post!
This one is simple, OPI "Can't find my Czechbook" is a beautiful teal/aqua mix. It applies great, and I absolutely love the color. I mattiefied it with Essie's "Matte about you" (another great addition to any collection but left the tips glossy, including the accent glitter nail.

The real star of this mani is Polka.com on the accent nail, though. This glitter has light blue (similar to chezchbook), purple and pink hex glitters, with little purple microglitters. Two coats is what I have on my accent nail, the coverage with glitter is amazing and take no work!

D.I.Y. Sunday: His and Hers Pillow Cases

This week makes a great gift for couples, long distance or not. This project was inspired by this tutorial on A Beautiful Mess. I did a few things differently, to better suit my crafting style.

I started with grey pillowcases (four) blue chevron for the heart and yellow for the letters. (you will also need: Needle and thread or sewing machine, and sticker letters in the size you want)

I measured to see how tall the heart would need to be, cut the fabric in the appropriate sized square, folded it in half and cut out a heart. At this point I cut the heart and half:

and stuck my letters on where I wanted them:
Now from here I followed the tutorial on ABM except I sewed by hand, not with a sewing machine. I would recommend using a sewing machine, I how ever prefer the hand sewn route.
In case you don't want to pop over to ABM, here is what you do:
  1. Sew the yellow fabric on the back around the letters.
  2. Cut the letters out on the chevron, leaving the yellow poking through.
  3. Sew the heart on the pillow case.
  4. Repeat for HERS.
Now, my boyfriend and I are long distance, so I sent him the HIS and a blank grey pillow case, and I kept the HERS and a blank one, so now we have:

Hope you guys enjoy making pillow cases for your home!

Happy Valentines Day Ya'll!

You may have noticed it's been a bit absent around here lately, but I plan on making it up to you!
Starting next week we are going to have new segments introduced!

  1. Mani Monday! That's right Manicures! From swatches, to reviews, to how to's!
  2. Outfit of the day posts will come on Wednesday's (I know, It's not very clever is it?) Exactly what it sounds like: my out fit of the day!
  3. Random Roulette! This will be any of the new or current segments, on any day of the week. (basically my excuse to play a bit with the schedule)
  4. What I want is.... Friday! because let's face it, making a wishlist is fun!
Of course I will continue with D.I.Y. projects on Sunday's, and random little life updates too. I hope you're as excited as I am! Stay on the look out for a slight makeover to the blog too!

Now, of course it is Valentines Day, and I LOVE this day, not because I am supposed to shower my love with gifts and roses, but because of the fact that it serves as a reminder that you should show someone you love them everyday, and it doesn't take gifts, it's the little things people. I take any excuse I can get to spoil my boyfriend, I love making him things, little reminders that I care (expect a post ya'll).

So here is just a reminder that I love all of you and I hope you have a wonderful, chocolate filled day!

This is Halloween:

Happy Halloween week (halloweek?)!! I recently got back from visiting the Boyfriend, and I had SO much fun!
I'm going to start this post off with a really simple autumn recipe I think most of you probably know!
Pumpkin Seeds!!! So, you are carving your pumpkin for Halloween, and digging through guts and seeds, what are you going to do with all this mess?! EAT IT! Separate the guts and the seeds (time consuming, but worth it). Get a pan and put a little oil on it, enough to coat the bottom of the pan, spread your seeds out, and add a little butter. I salt mine to taste, heat the oven to about 350 and pop them in the oven. Keep a close eye on them and when they look golden brown, they're done!

Oh, the pumpkins that provided this delicious-ness went to great use too!
Cody's is the grand one on the left, and mine is the owl on the right! We had a lot of messy fun, and a small pumpkin guts fight. It was lovely!

What do you do with your pumpkin seeds?!

This is Halloween:

This D.I.Y. was inspired by this blogger's post: Candy Corn Love, I went about it a little differently though. Seriously guys, I love Halloween, maybe too much. If that is possible. It's the best holiday.  First I started with the supplies. (all found at micheal's or walmart)

Pretty simple stuff, yarn, foam cones(I would get white, We were NOT thinking about that) some little doo-dads, hot glue and super glue.

Start with a line of hot glue (or, as my fingers would call it, hot lava) And wrap the yarn around and around and around.

Go according with candy corn colors (or do whatever colors you want, I won't judge, go crazy) do a second layer of yarn and glue accordingly.

Take coordinating felt colors and mark them in a circle (note: DO NOT USE RED, IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON USING A RED CRAYON ABORT MISSION) My mom and I were not thinking, we should have used chalk (my BFF) or a pencil. Cut the felt circles out and glue them to the top and bottom.
Wait for the glue to dry annnd ADD DOO-DADS!
Happy halloween everyone!
(I am resisting the urge to end this post with "You know you love me, XOXO Gossip Girl")

This Week:

I just got back from a road trip to Oklahoma. I had a great week getting to know the area and seeing my boyfriend. I don't have many pictures. But I do have those silly photo booth pictures.

I also went comic book red.

And started working on a quilt (first timer, don't judge!) and a cookbook. One for the Boyfriend and I. Can't wait to post them, but here is a sneak peak at the quilt, but mostly my dog Moose being adorable.
