This is Halloween:

Happy Halloween week (halloweek?)!! I recently got back from visiting the Boyfriend, and I had SO much fun!
I'm going to start this post off with a really simple autumn recipe I think most of you probably know!
Pumpkin Seeds!!! So, you are carving your pumpkin for Halloween, and digging through guts and seeds, what are you going to do with all this mess?! EAT IT! Separate the guts and the seeds (time consuming, but worth it). Get a pan and put a little oil on it, enough to coat the bottom of the pan, spread your seeds out, and add a little butter. I salt mine to taste, heat the oven to about 350 and pop them in the oven. Keep a close eye on them and when they look golden brown, they're done!

Oh, the pumpkins that provided this delicious-ness went to great use too!
Cody's is the grand one on the left, and mine is the owl on the right! We had a lot of messy fun, and a small pumpkin guts fight. It was lovely!

What do you do with your pumpkin seeds?!

This is Halloween:

This D.I.Y. was inspired by this blogger's post: Candy Corn Love, I went about it a little differently though. Seriously guys, I love Halloween, maybe too much. If that is possible. It's the best holiday.  First I started with the supplies. (all found at micheal's or walmart)

Pretty simple stuff, yarn, foam cones(I would get white, We were NOT thinking about that) some little doo-dads, hot glue and super glue.

Start with a line of hot glue (or, as my fingers would call it, hot lava) And wrap the yarn around and around and around.

Go according with candy corn colors (or do whatever colors you want, I won't judge, go crazy) do a second layer of yarn and glue accordingly.

Take coordinating felt colors and mark them in a circle (note: DO NOT USE RED, IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON USING A RED CRAYON ABORT MISSION) My mom and I were not thinking, we should have used chalk (my BFF) or a pencil. Cut the felt circles out and glue them to the top and bottom.
Wait for the glue to dry annnd ADD DOO-DADS!
Happy halloween everyone!
(I am resisting the urge to end this post with "You know you love me, XOXO Gossip Girl")

This Week:

I just got back from a road trip to Oklahoma. I had a great week getting to know the area and seeing my boyfriend. I don't have many pictures. But I do have those silly photo booth pictures.

I also went comic book red.

And started working on a quilt (first timer, don't judge!) and a cookbook. One for the Boyfriend and I. Can't wait to post them, but here is a sneak peak at the quilt, but mostly my dog Moose being adorable.

Mix Tape:

Well, a modern mix tape anyways. I made one for some one and I wanted a special way to wrap it. It's pretty simple, but it took me 22 years to come up with, so I figured someone else may not have thought of it either.
I got a brown paper bag, measured it to fit a CD inside on all four sides, and then enough for it fold over one more time. Then I sewed (albeit crudely) up the sides.

Then I just taped the cover up. I'll probably sew something on the front tomorrow while I'm on the road, so I'll update. But you can decorate it how ever you want.
Have a great night lovelies!

Travel Time:

I've started making these to travel with:

They are kits for your tooth brush, toothpaste, and anything else you can thing of. This means my bag won't get all wet from the tooth brush!
First I got a few hand towels from the store (about 3.00 each, and in a ton of colors as I've been making one for every female in the family) As you can kind of see in my (realllly blurry) picture (sorry!) I laid it out hot dog style and didn't fold it quite in half, I left about a quarter of the towel to sit above the pocket area.

I used the crease marks as a line on which to sew on, pinned and went at it. (I sew by hand but you can use a machine too of course) in one of the quarter creases I did another line down in half for a better fitted tooth brush pocket. Of course you can size and place pockets how ever you would like.

A tip to try, is when the crease starts fading (it did this worse on the blue for whatever reason) use chalk to mark the line. When you get to the far end, sew some ribbon, whatever length you choose, and fold it. Then use chalk to mark where you would like to put the button. (make sure it lines up with the ribbon, and won't be so tight you can not fit things inside it).

Yeah, I rock basketball shorts sometimes.
Happy travels!

Sweet as Apple Pie!

I went to see my darling last week in upstate New York. It was beautiful, wonderful, and a very special experience.
One day we decided to go camping, and we wanted to make some (adult) Apple Drank (His name, not mine).
So here is the recipe:
(This will make four large mason jars worth)
Half gallon of Apple Juice
Half gallon of Apple Cider (we just made a ton of cups of the keurig kind)
3/4s of a cup of white sugar (or to taste)
1 half liter of Rum. ( you can use more to make yours stronger or less)
3-4 cinnamon sticks
And 1-2 chopped apples.

Mix the sugar, cinnamon sticks, apple juice and cider together and bring to a boil until the sugar is dissolved in. Let it cool to room temperature and then add the rum. Mix together and put in the mason jars, making sure to have a cinnamon stick and some apple slices in each, and place in the fridge.

let sit for about six hours, then you're ready to drink up!

We taste tested before camping ;)
We then went camping the next night, and shared the mason jars. (have fun fighting over who gets the apple!)

White Sangria!

One of my best friends birthdays was this week, this is the recipe I used for sangria, the wine, and liqueur type can be replaced, depending on how fancy you are feeling.
Sparkling water, One bottle of white wine and three shots of apple liquer.
 Half a lemon
 Apple slices
 raspberries
and half a lime.

You mix the wine and shots together, add the fruit (you can put whatever you fancy in there, this is just what I did) keep cold, and when served, top off the glass with some sparkling water! Yum!

Hope you guys are staying safe!

It's a wonderful life.

This past weekend (14th to the 19th) the one and only, wonderful Boyfriend of mine came to visit.
I picked him up from the air port in Denver, we went to get lunch at Ikea (yum! Meatballs!) We also ran around the store looking at furniture ideas. Fun!
Then we got home and had margaritas and wine.
We spent a day at the zoo, too fun!
And drove south a couple of hours, to spend a day at Mission:Wolf. We learned a lot and had a blast.
We also went to Joe's Crab Shack and had some awesome drinks called Shark Bite!
Anyways, a few pictures for you!

Pretty sunset on the way home from M:W

 Isn't his smile the cutest?
Tomorrow is girl day, and I've seen some dish ideas floating around the internet I think I am going to try.

Smitten Little Kitten

This past week was my birthday week, and I want to thank everyone who made my birthday special. I truly love you guys.
I went garage sale hunting, and met the lovely Rachel Denbow (smileandwave link on the side) and walked away with this beauty:
The two fabrics under neath it are going to be table clothes, or pillow fabric for the living space.

I also got a lovely purse and shorts and dress this week:

I hung out with Jenna and we rocked our wide brim hats!

This was my birthday outfit! I even fixed my hair!
We had a birthday dinner at Maggiano's
I went to a family friend's vintage tea party birthday shower and this hankie was a favor. I am in LOVE!

Have a wonderful week darlings!

Chicken soup is good for the soul:

This week I've been a bit down, so I headed to (one of) the local goodwill. The plate used to have a matching Tea cup for holding make up brushes and such. It, ahem. broke in the unfortunate tea cup massacre of 2012. (I kid, my pup knocked it down) so I needed to replace it. This chicken soup bowl/cup/drinkthing (scientific name) now holds the Make up, and the brushes. perfect.
Thrifting it the fastest way to cheer me up.

Have a beautiful day darlings.

Fish&Racecars

This week I've been in the process of planing some projects, so I don't have one to share quite yet. BUT! I have had an amazing week.

Yesterday, I went to the Denver aquarium to watch my "special interest" dive with the sharks. I got there and a stranger gave me free entry, just randomly decided to give me a wristband he already paid for. How nice?!
Anyways, enjoy:

Then the sir and I made our way to speedway races, the carts hit 50 mph! After that we stopped and got some amazing pizza and I found this beauty of a game.
Can you tell I'm a sucker for Cap? I also saw the Avengers this week, and spent sometime at Gold Camp for a friends birthday.
Have a good week Dollfaces!
